Running a tournament

A RallyFlow tournament is a one-day doubles event with fixed teams. Teams play round robin, either all together or in pools that feed a single-elimination playoff. RallyFlow puts each match on the next free court and shows everything live on the court display and on every player's phone.

Your first tournament is free, in any club you own. It counts only once the first match starts, so you can set one up to try it. After that, choose Pro (one tournament, with your branding) or Max for unlimited tournaments in the clubs you own. See today's prices and paid upgrades for more.

1. Create it

Open your club and choose New tournament. Pick the format:

  • Round robin: every team plays every other team once and the standings decide the winner. Good for 4 to 8 teams.
  • Pools + playoff: pools of 3 to 6 teams, then the top 1 or 2 of each pool go to a knockout playoff. Good for 8 to 32 teams.

Choose games to 11, 15 or 21 (always win by 2), and whether playoff matches are one game, best of 3 in the final, or best of 3 in every round.

2. Add the teams

  • Add teams yourself on the Teams tab: two players and an optional team name.
  • Or tap Share and send the link or QR code: players can register their own team. Each one waits for you to approve it.
  • Give your strongest teams a seed (1, 2, 3…) so they are spread across the pools. Leave the rest blank.

3. Set the pools and start

The Pools tab proposes pools with the seeds spread out and shows how many matches there are and roughly how long they'll take on your courts. Use New draw to reshuffle the unseeded teams, or move a team to another pool. Then choose Start tournament. The schedule is made so no team plays twice in a row when that can be avoided. Until the first match starts you can still go back to setup from Settings.

4. Run the courts

  • On the Courts tab each free court shows the next match whose teams are both free. Choose Start match, or pick another ready match for that court.
  • When it ends, choose Record result and enter the score. The winner follows from it. Mistakes can be corrected on the Schedule tab.
  • Check teams in on the Teams tab as they arrive. A substitute can replace a player: edit the team and it keeps its record.
  • If a team has to leave, Withdraw it. Its finished results stand and the matches it had left are forfeits.

5. Put it on a TV

Open Court display on a TV or tablet by the courts. It shows who's on each court, what's up next, the pool standings and then the bracket. Turn on Court calls and it announces each match out loud. Players who follow their team on their phone get a buzz when they're called to court.

6. Start the playoff

When every pool match is recorded, the Standings tab shows who goes through and the playoff seeds: pool winners first, with teams from the same pool kept apart as long as possible. Teams are ranked by matches won, then head-to-head, point difference and points scored. If two teams are still level and it decides who goes through, RallyFlow asks you to settle it (a coin toss is common). Then choose Start the playoff. Top seeds get a bye when the number of teams needs one.

7. Finish

The playoff ends with the final. A round robin ends when you choose Finish after the last match. The champions appear on the TV and on every phone, each team sees its recap, and the champions can save a winners card to share.
